Alleged Flint serial killer to be extradited today

Free Press Staff Writer The suspect in a multistate stabbing spree will be extradited to Michigan today from Georgia, where he was arrested earlier this month, and arraigned this afternoon, according to police. Elias Abuelazam, 33, is accused of stabbing 14 men in the Flint area, including five who died, and attacking four others in Virginia and Ohio. All of the attacks were on men and most were African American. Abuelazam, an Israeli citizen, was arrested at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where he planned to board a plane to Tel Aviv, Israel.
According to a news release this morning from the Michigan State Police, Abuelazam will be arraigned in Flint's 68th District Court at 3 p.m.
There is an arrest warrant signed for Abuelazam in one Flint-area case on a charge of assault with intent to murder.
Many of the victims reported to police that their attacker stabbed them after first asking them for help.
The attacks in the Flint area happened between May and August, when it's believed Abuelazam attacked three other men in Leesburg, Va. and one in Toledo, police have said.
