Ghetto Lullaby
MJ Robinson has been singing and playing the piano since he was six years old.
Singing in his church choir gave him the passion for music he has today.
Robinson’s music has a Blues feel and is usually accompanied by a piano. The songs he writes are on a personal level, as if telling his story to an audience.
“There has been a lot of pain as well as joy,” said MJ. “I found music to be therapy, encouragement and sometimes even advice.”
In 2010, MJ was given the opportunity to open for touring artist; some including J Holiday, Yo Gotti and Anthony David.
Although Robinson lives in Highland Park, he still has an abundance of love for his former city of residence. His song, Dear Detroit, is a tribute to the city. It is slow ballad with just piano playing in the background. MJ sings about the hope he has for the city, about the greatness of the city.
MJ will be working on his second album with Silent Riot Entertainment this fall.
What’s coming up for MJ Robinson… He has a show at 7:00 pm on September 18 in U Detroit Café.
